Thomas Edison had an amazing memory. He wanted to make sure his employees were sharp too. Job seekers applying to work for Edison were given a 150 question quiz when they applied. The requirement for passing was 90%. Of the over 500 men who applied to work for Edison, only around 2% actually passed. Talk about a difficult job interview! In 1921, a candidate informed the NY Times of the interview process at Edison's company, recalling from memory 146 of the questions on the quiz. When the quiz was published, it became a sensation. People from all walks of life began quizzing themselves, even famed scientist Albert Einstein, who is said to have failed. Of course Edison switched the questions after the news story broke.
